{"id":15,"date":"2021-08-23T10:34:08","date_gmt":"2021-08-23T10:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coco-study.org\/?page_id=15"},"modified":"2023-07-11T08:44:51","modified_gmt":"2023-07-11T08:44:51","slug":"studies","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/coco-study.org\/en\/studies","title":{"rendered":"<img src=\"https:\/\/coco-study.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/EN-International-Study-Banner.png\">"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Within the CoCo project, we conducted two large-scale studies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#int-esm\"><strong>\u27a4 The International Study<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#nat-esmss\"><strong>\u27a4 The National Smartphone-Sensing Study<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"int-esm\"><br><strong>The International Study <\/strong><br><strong><b>  <\/b><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-accent-color has-text-color\"><strong>Data collection for the international study is finished<\/strong><br><strong><b>  <\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The <em>International<\/em> <em>Study<\/em> includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a <strong>Online pre- and post-survey<\/strong> (comprising several scientifically recognized questionnaires)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a <strong>Four-week experience-sampling phase<\/strong><br>(Therein, participants will complete a short (2- to 3-minute) online questionnaire up to five times a day over the course of four weeks. The participants will be invited to complete the questionnaires via email. They will be invited to complete an evening-questionnaire at the same time every day, and four additional ESM-questionnaires distributed throughout the day. This method ensures a more temporally accurate and comprehensive assessment of the participants\u2019 experiences and behaviors than other methods (e.g., studies with single questionnaires)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In a nutshell:<\/strong><br><strong>Method<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> Online pre- and post-survey + experience-sampling (ESM)<br><strong>Duration<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> 4 weeks (from individual start time)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"nat-esmss\"><strong>The National Smartphone-Sensing Study <\/strong><strong><b>  <\/b><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-accent-color has-text-color\"><strong>Data collection for the national Study is finished<\/strong><br><strong><b>  <\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" translation-block\">In our national sensing study, repeated experience sampling surveys (similar to the international ESM study) are combined with data collection through smartphone sensing.\n\nSmartphone sensing is a novel approach to data collection, where relevant and lifelike data are gathered using various sensors in the smartphone (such as gyroscope, GPS sensor, brightness sensor, etc.). Additionally, it allows for the anonymous collection and analysis of usage patterns of different apps. This, in conjunction with other data, enables particularly realistic insights into the behavior and experiences of the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" translation-block\">In this study, participants are asked to install the <a href=\"https:\/\/phonestudy.org\/en\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>PhoneStudy Research App<\/strong><\/a> developed at LMU on their Android smartphones, which enables smartphone sensing according to current privacy and anonymization standards. Ownership of an Android smartphone is therefore a prerequisite for study participation.
